Chipmunk by Andrew Denman <Back to Thumbnails "The Hangout"
8 x 8"
Acrylic on Cradled Board

How to Buy, General Information

Chipmunks always amuse me with their sprightly movements, bold inquisitiveness, squeaky voices, and humorous antics. This one caught my attention as it was exploring some fallen bits of birdseed on a friends porch in Montana. It is my general preference to present animal subjects out of context of their natural habitats, but the new environment that I create, however non-objective it may be, is never a random one, and such is the case here. I decided to focus on the curious nature of these delightful little mammals by letting him perch on an upended question mark. The stippled background is both an interesting texture and also suggestive of the seeds that brought him into my view. Combine the two, and you have the perfect little hangout for a chipmunk!
