The Long-Tailed Tit is undoubtedly my favorite UK songbird. They are impossibly precious and tiny, and their color combination of white, pale pink, and black, is beautiful. Much like the Bush Tits I grew up with in California, they tend to travel in small flocks, are constantly in motion, and, being a bit shy around people, tend to hang out in dense vegetation. As such, they can be hard to see, but their delicate chatter is quite audible and instantly identifiable. Capturing the delicate color palette and allowing it to bleed into the non-objective background was my primary interest with this piece. I observed this bird at Sculpture by the Lakes while staying with my dear friends the Gudgeons.

A note: I try to keep careful track in numbering these studies, but this one is incorrectly titled as #3. It is actually my 4th Long-Tailed Tit Study.
